Spirit of France (NB 1368) for P&O Ferries

FERRY FOR P&O (NB 1368) for P&O Ferries

The newest and the most advanced technology is being utilised in the design and construction of these two car-passenger ferries. Special attention is paid to environmentally friendly and energy efficient solutions and safety. With a gross tonnage of 47 600 and 213 meters in lenght, the ferries will be the largest vessels to fit present facilities in the ports and the first Channel ferries designed to manoeuvre under their own power. Spirit of Britain was delivered from STX Finland Rauma shipyard on January 2011. Her sistership, to be named Spirit of France, will be delivered in September 2011. Both ships will have space for more than 180 freight vehicles, more than doubling the freight carrying capacity of the ships they are replacing, whilst also providing a third vehicle deck for up to 195 cars.
